A normal working day

I am on a normal working day this week, and suppose to be working over the weekend, but I swapped with a friend who so I will not be working this weekend. Unfortunately, I will be working straight for the next 2 weeks non-stop. InsyaAllah, I can do it.

Today, I was assigned to work through the outstanding e-discharges. These e-discharges are the main form of communication with the GP. The GP will want to know what happened to their patients who they sent to hospital or if they went to A+E. They also want to know if there are changes in their patients medication and updates if the patient comes back for review or if patient have questions that were not answered at hospital. We are supposed to do it within 24 hours of patients being discharged or else we will be penalized. Unfortunately, due to the quick turnover of patients, there were back-logs of patients discharge letters needed doing.

We also have lunch-time teachings - everyone has been assigned to present during these teaching sessions.
Today's lunch time teaching was very interesting. It was on Paediatrics patients diagnosed with endocrine tumour. It stimulated questions especially with regards to interpretation of thyroid function test (TFTs). I will need to revise how to interpret TFTs.

The highlight of my 'not-so-interesting-day' : TAB Summary!
Multi-source feeback/ Team assessment of behaviour is a tool used to assess our behaviour as doctors!
Some of the feedback:

  • Several patients have commented to me that Shafiqah adopted a caring attitude and communicated wel in her interactions with them
  • A doctor that is very conscientious
  • Wonderful house-officer and very good in team-working and organisations.
I am so flattered and made my day! Thank you so much everyone.

Being ME - finding happiness

What happiness means to you?
How do you strive for happiness?
Where can you find your happiness?
Who can give you the happiness you want in life?

Guidance - Ustz Musleh Khan:

1. Strive for Allah's pleasure
  • In everything you do in life
  • Strive to please Allah, not to please other people

2. Be grateful with the Qadr of Allah
  • Allah has determined your Qadr - you have to accept it
  • Be grateful and appreciate what Allah give to you. You will never know what is going to happen to you tomorrow. You  might be healthy today, but Allah can take away your health tomorrow. You might be rich today, but Allah can take them all away from you in a blink of an eye!
  • So be satisfied with Allah's Qadr - you are not in control in everything

3. Satisfy your soul - you need to feed your soul with Quran and prayer. You need to follow the Sunnah, zikir and most importantly, obey Allah.

4. Choose a wise companion:
  • Your friends can determine if you enter Hell or Jannah
  • Choose your friends wisely: choose those who can bring you nearer to Allah, those who are above you, not below you. If they are below you, they can bring you down. If you cannot find companions who are more superior, than just keep to yourself

5. Prioritize your lifestyle:
  • Think: What do you think first thing you wake up? Do you quickly want to check out your Facebook? Or do you wake up and feel syukur, you are still alive and thank Allah for another day you have to increase your Ibadah?
  • We as Muslims, should always plan ahead - we should not think of the past too much, things have been done.
  • Your future must be better than you are now or yesterday.
  • So, always plan ahead, and make yourself better everyday.
  • Always be positive in whatever you do - prioritize your lifestyle.

6. Choose righteous husband (or wife)
  • Happiness lies in your spouse
  • Your married life will define your happiness - with your children

How to get a good husband (for the single ladies):
  1. If they are kind to their family and everyone around them - they are more likely to do the same to you.
  2. Responsible in all levels: if you can find a responsible husband, he will be responsible to you financially, spiritually and everything else.

7. True happiness lies within righteous deeds:
  • Recite quran
  • Do all the righteous deeds: follow Quran and Sunnah
  • When you do something right, you will feel right.

(I took notes from the lecture on that day - so these were from my understanding, could be right/wrong but insyaAllah they are all right)

being ME... sisters only conference

It's the jubilee weekend bank holiday!
This is the first time that I am not at work on a bank holiday after almost a year working at this lovely hospital. I have worked on every single bank holiday - Christmas, New Year and all the others except this!

I did not even realize that I was off, until a couple of weeks ago, so I had no plans!

So I decided to pay my friend in Manchester a visit. I have not visited her new baby (well, 6-month old baby now) yet!

She invited me to this event.

I will update and share the useful knowledge gained from the different sessions throughout the day!

What do I want to share?

I want to share about:

- my daily encountering at work (I can do it as a reflection on e-Portfolio!)
- my daily routine
- my knowledge: mainly at work and my studies
- my experience: not much but I still want to share

and anything and everything that I want to share...

I will try to post on daily basis if I have time insyaAllah...

This is my medium to express myself... so if you are following me, beware!

the Beginning

The first post in my blog!

The beginning of something new, that I have never imagined before.
Hoping that this new beginning will lead to an end that I am looking for.

Assalamualaikum wbt and hello.

I am trying to create a new blog, a new way for me to express myself. A new perspective in my life. A new beginning to my journey to share my knowledge and experiences.

I am not sure where this blog is going to take me, but I will try and make changes and write as much as I possibly can.

More to come soon... insyaAllah...
